Ookawa Stone Quarry 大川石丁場

This very large stone is called the "bonaki ishi". It is right at the top of a very large hill going down to the port on the coast from which the stones were carried to Tokyo for Edo Castle. It is said that the stone was too big and heavy that they gave up and left it here.
