Mito Castle 水戸城
Description This is a deep hori-kiri cut in the side of the mountain between the Ninomaru and Honmaru baileys. Mito Castle did not use stone walls around the castle for defense so it relied on these deep moats for defense. This was not actually cut down for the train line but as a castle defense.
